Welcome to the portfolio gallery showcasing a variety of my recent work. Many of these images were created as self assigned projects, meaning when I'm in between paid projects, I go out and shoot something. My first specialty was architectural and soon after I began shooting a variety of corporate freelance styles including products, portraits and events. Cape Breton & New Brunswick, Canada

The images shown here were taken on a working vacation to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada in September, 2009. We passed through New Brunswick and some of the shots are from various locations along the way. Cape Breton is one of the most idealic locations for photographers with thousands of square miles of undeveloped wilderness, beautiful lakes and rivers and high cliffs overlooking the ocean. With some patience and an "attitude of gratitude" I found myself in countless breathtaking situations to photograph. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I had taking them. Class Field Trips

One of my favorite parts of teaching photography classes and workshops are the field trips. I love to see how people's awareness opens up as they walk around with a camera in their hands. Art In Architecture

Back in 1986 I was given my first professional photography assignment to shoot homes for a weekly television show. I was trained for about two days and subsequently learned the fine art of architectural photography by shooting over 100,000 homes, condos, commercial and public buildings. I greatly appreciate the intricate details, fine lines and complicated geometry that goes into a creative structure. Travelling the world has given me a perspective of how unique buildings can be from one country to the next. The history of our cultures are carefully preserved in the architecture. This gallery shows some of the more creative and artistic elements of my architectural work. Please contact me with your project ideas.

Playtography

Playtography is an exciting arts enrichment program that was developed for the patients at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The concept is simple: put a digital camera in the hands of a child and give them the opportunity to see their world come alive. Equipped with the camera and their natural sense of wonder, participants are invited to join Craig Norton for an adventure in photography. The children explore their surroundings and use photography as a fun and easy tool to be creative. Within the hospital walls, teddy bears, family members, caregivers, architecture, fish tanks, sculpture and more take on a whole new perspective.

In a hospital setting, Craig inspires children and adults to create art for their walls, photo journals, scrap books, collages and gifts for friends & family. Participants will learn about digital cameras and photographic techniques as they go, but this is not a class- it's an expressive arts PLAYSHOP. The first child to participate in the program asked to do it again the following week. When we got together the next time he said, "I'm looking at things differently now." That's what Playtography is all about!

Playtography arts enrichment programs can be applied to schools, camps, social service programs, nursing homes and much more. We will work with you to develop an integrated program that is appropriate for just about any setting.

Musicians

As a musician myself, I understand that having an interesting image is important. I enjoy collaborating with musicians to create unique visuals for CD's, DVD's, web sites and marketing materials. These skills can also be applied to other artisitic performers including dance and theater.
